Many people have asked what the Coast Miwok Statue Project actually is, so I’d love to share more clearly.
This is a community-led effort to create a permanent public bronze statue honoring the Coast Miwok people — the original inhabitants of present-day Marin County.
For generations, Coast Miwok history and presence have been overlooked. This monument will help restore visibility, acknowledge Indigenous heritage, and create a place where the community can learn, reflect, and gather.
🗿 The plan:• A six-foot bronze statue• Created with cultural care and community guidance• Installed in a public space in Marin County• Designed to be educational, respectful, and lasting
🌿 Why it matters:• Honors the first people of this land• Brings Indigenous history into public view• Creates opportunities for cultural awareness• Builds partnerships across the community
🤝 This is a volunteer-powered project. We are organizing:• Fundraising• Community presentations• Cultural consultations• Public events and gatherings
If you care about history, cultural recognition, public art, or community building — you can be part of this.
✨ Volunteers welcome (about 1 hour/week, remote options available)📧 lucinavidauri222@gmail.com
