In the soft light of early morning, the Coast Miwok village stirs as smoke rises gently from the central fire. Women gather to grind acorns, their rhythmic work echoing through the roundhouses, while men prepare nets and tools for fishing along the nearby creek. Children run between the tule shelters, laughing as they help gather berries and plants from the edges of the village. As the sun climbs, families work together—shaping baskets, drying fish, and tending to the land that has sustained them for generations. By evening, the community comes together again, sharing food, songs, and stories that carry the wisdom of their elders, weaving another day into the long, living history of the Coast Miwok people.
